Several commercial buildings are undergoing conversion to residential units to accommodate the pent-up and accelerating demand for downtown residential living. 50 Larch will provide 50 housing units aimed at students. 30 Durham, a historic heritage building, will provide a mix of another 50 one and two bedroom apartments. The Village on Mackenzie will see 70 one and two bedroom condominium units built in seven low-rise buildings. 161 Larch presently under construction is targeting upscale urban dwellers with 15 condominium units while 73 Elm, another historic heritage building, is under restoration to provide Class A live-work office space featuring 14 foot original tin ceilings, exposed brick walls, and original birch floors.
